RadioAstron (Spektr R) is a Russian orbital radio telescope. It is funded by the Russian Astro Space Center, and was launched into Earth orbit on 18 July 2011, with a perigee of 10,000 kilometers (6,200 mi) and an apogee of 390,000 kilometers (240,000 mi).

Russian Plans to Explore Solar System

Yuri Gagarin was the first human to travel into outer space as his spacecraft complete an orbit of Earth on April 12, 1961. He was also a Soviet Russian and this statue dedicated to him stands tall and proud in Moscow. To me he looks like a Russian Superman. 
Almost 51 years ago this month.
